A double LP tribute to Really Red, a serious punk/hardcore band from Houston, Texas. The collection has 39 new versions of Really Red's original songs. The impact is punk but the sounds go from metal to pickin' to psychedelic to electronic and blues/punk. Includes pro's like The BellRays, The Hickoids, Mudhoney, MDC, Doomstress, SOTAP, Verbal Abuse, Cold Black Vines, Hamell on Trial, Jello Biafra, and the Dicks.
Bands recorded in about a dozen different studios. Hamell recorded his track on his i-phone the same night that he learned the song. Seven of the tracks were recorded at Wire Road Studios in the Houston Heights which is where the final mastering was completed (first and second time) by Andrew Bradley in March of 2020.Purchasable with gift card$25 USD or more

I've been listening to this recording almost nonstop since receiving it. After reading the liner notes from Jeff Smith, I was stunned to find out that this was such a recent release. The music sounds so classic and timeless, I couldn't believe that it had just been released this year! I've heard many of the songs before, and enjoyed seeing The Hickoids before - and this is a beautiful time capsule. A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!!
